BIN sponsorship
Issue cards under a licensed BIN
Launch a card programme on a principal scheme member's licence. Elibrium sponsors the BIN, runs settlement and compliance oversight, and you reach the market without becoming a bank or a scheme member yourself.
Two ways to launch cards
Build the licence, or borrow one that's ready
Become a principal member
- Apply for scheme membership and a banking or e-money licence
- Stand up settlement, reconciliation and scheme reporting
- Carry the capital, audit and compliance burden in-house
- Months of work before a single card is issued
Use BIN sponsorship
- Issue under our sponsor's principal membership and BIN
- Settlement, reconciliation and scheme reporting handled for you
- Compliance oversight built into the programme
- Focus on your product and get to market far sooner
Clear division of labour
We hold the rails. You own the product.
BIN sponsorship isn't a black box. You keep the customer relationship and the roadmap; we carry the parts that need a licence.
Elibrium handles
Scheme relationship, BIN, issuing, settlement, reconciliation and compliance oversight.
You handle
Product design, card branding, customer experience and how the programme grows.
Questions
BIN sponsorship, answered
What is a BIN, and why do I need sponsorship?
A BIN (Bank Identification Number) is the leading digits of a card that identify the issuer. Scheme rules require a principal member to hold it, a status reserved for licensed institutions. Sponsorship lets you issue under that member's BIN instead of obtaining membership yourself.
Who is the "programme manager"?
That's Elibrium. We sit between the sponsor bank and your brand, running issuing, settlement and day-to-day compliance so you can operate the programme.
Do we still control the card and the customer?
Yes. You own the product, the branding and the customer relationship; sponsorship simply provides the regulated foundation underneath.
How fast can we launch?
Far faster than building a licence from scratch. Timelines depend on your programme scope and compliance review, which we scope with you before you commit.
